We’ve built over 200 classrooms but I can’t remember their names — Gov. Adeleke’s aide + Video

Abiodun Alesinloye, the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has stirred online reactions after he claimed that the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration has constructed more than 200 classrooms across every local government area in Osun State but he could not name even one of them.

The governor’s aide spoke Friday when he appeared on a programme on Western Spring Television: “Morning Spring.”

Alesinloye said: “I can tell you by fact that within this time, we have built new classrooms not in hundreds. 

“We have built more than 200 new classrooms and they are in every local government.”

The SUBEB chairman’s aide cited an example from his own local government in Ilesa, saying: “There is a particular school in Ilaje, Ilesa that had been left dilapidated.

“The NSCDC was using it as a base, and boys were smoking there. 

“When we got there, we made sure we brought the school back.”

However, a mild drama ensued when the hosts asked Alesinloye to name five of the schools where the new classrooms were built, but he struggled to provide any specific example.

When pressed by one of the hosts, he responded: “If I want to mention names, I will keep mentioning names. 

“There is no local government that we have not constructed classrooms in Osun State.”

The aide later clarified that if he checked his records, he could list every school, but the viral moment led to significant criticism and mockery from opposition groups and social media users questioning the authenticity of the infrastructure claims.
