‘You Will Pay For It’ – Joe Igbokwe Warns Opposition Against Stopping Tinubu’s Re-election

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has warned that any opposition that adamantly stands in the way of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid would be made to pay for its action.

Papers News reports that Igbokwe made this remark in a post via his Facebook page on Tuesday, stating that Tinubu was not voted into power to “come and play”.

Sending a stern warning to the opposition, Igbokwe said Tinubu was elected to rework Nigeria and must be allowed to achieve his aim.

He wrote, “We voted for PBAT to come and retool and rework Nigeria. We did not vote for him to come to play or continue the business as usual.

“No Sir. We have to push this country to rise and work again. If you adamantly stand in the way, you will pay for it”.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned opposition political actors against zoning the 2027 presidential ticket to the South, warning that such a move could ultimately hand Tinubu an easy path to re-election.

In a statement issued by his camp, Atiku argued that presenting another southern candidate against a sitting southern president lacks political strategy and has no historical precedent in Nigeria’s democratic experience.

According to the statement, opposition parties must focus on building a formidable coalition capable of defeating the incumbent rather than making what it described as sentimental or symbolic decisions.
