CIAPS to host Lesotho-based columnist

The Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) is set to host Lesotho-based columnist, Dr Sunny A. Adache, at a special Meet-the-Author event scheduled to be held in Lagos on Friday, 21 August 2026.
The event, according to a statement, begins at 11:00 a.m and will take place at the CIAPS Auditorium, 5 Akinola Cole Crescent, off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.
Dr. Adache, a columnist based in Lesotho, will engage participants in a conversation around his books, writing and experiences as a writer working within the African and Commonwealth space.
The event is designed to provide an opportunity for students, writers, academics and other members of the public to interact directly with the author and explore the ideas and experiences behind his work.
As part of CIAPS’s commitment to promoting reading, writing and intellectual engagement, the Institute has particularly encouraged schools to bring students to the event.
Participating students will not only have the opportunity to meet the author but will also be encouraged to write reports on the event afterwards, turning the literary encounter into a practical writing and learning exercise.
The initiative reflects the growing importance of creating opportunities for young people to encounter writers directly and to understand writing not simply as a classroom activity but as a profession, a form of intellectual engagement and a means of participating in public discourse.
The presence of a Lesotho-based columnist also gives the event a broader African and Commonwealth dimension, allowing participants to encounter perspectives and experiences from beyond Nigeria.
The event is expected to provide an engaging meeting of literature, education, African perspectives and public conversation, while encouraging a new generation of readers and writers to take their own intellectual journeys more seriously.
Registration for the Meet-the-Author event is available through the CIAPS website.
