Dotun Oladipo’s Internment: Friends, family, colleagues pay tribute to late journalist, cleric tasks Nigerians on virtues he epitomized

Nigerians have been urged to be deliberate and consistent in adding values to people and showing kindness to one another.

This was the central point of admonition by Pastor Solomon Akpande at the funeral service of The Eagleonline Publisher, Oladotun Samson Oladipo, on Friday, in Lagos.

Preaching on the topic: “Make your life count,” Akpande admonished family, friends, associates, colleagues and members of staff, who attended the service at Stella Hall, Oregun, Ikeja, that they should remember that their “days are few and numbered”. 

The cleric stressed that the implication of the assertion is that whatever good conduct anybody needs to do, such should be dispensed without procrastination.

Speaking further on how people can make their life  count, Akpande called on the audience to value humanity in various aspects of their lives.

“Factor God into your life, decisions and actions – in all aspects of leadership you occupy. 

“When you work hard, ask for blessings, know that the value you place on humanity proves the level of value you ascribed to people”, Akpande said.

He added: “Know that your days are few and numbered. The implication is whatever you need to do, do it without delay.

“Focus on your assignments and execute them quickly”.

Speaking directly to late Oladipo’s family, Akpande affirmed that they should believe that they were not forsaken, noting that nobody expected the late Publisher would die when he did.

He noted that while man can forsake, he assured the family that God would not forsake them, adding that the seed of the good labour of late Oladipo would always work for them.

Akpande warned that the family should not be cajoled by wrong impressions, insisting that the family should remain faithful in God, calling on participants to always reflect on what people would say about them when they are no more.

“Help will come from those and where you don’t expect. Mourn, but avoid doing it without hope. Don’t allow the devil to dominate your thoughts,” Akpande admonished.

Earlier, family members, colleagues, friends took turns to attest to humility, kindness, diligence and other outstanding virtues, the late Journalist and media entrepreneur epitomized, when he was alive.

Oladipo, 56 and a former President of The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers GOCOP, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after feeling unwell.

His death was sudden and shocking, as there was no incident or case of ailment, prior to the fateful day he breathed his last.
