A prominent Ondo State businessman and owner of Esther Estate, Kayode Akinbolusere, popularly known as Tolufe, has been found dead in his office in Igba area of the state, with the police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Akinbolusere, 46, reportedly died on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in an incident suspected to be suicide.

The development was confirmed by the Ondo State Police Command, which said it commenced preliminary investigations after receiving reports that the businessman had been found dead at his office near a filling station in Igba Town.

The police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said operatives attached to the Bolorunduro Divisional Police Headquarters visited the scene following the report.

He explained that the deceased’s body was subsequently evacuated to the morgue at the State Hospital for preservation and further examination.

Jimoh disclosed that preliminary findings indicated that Akinbolusere had recorded a video message before his death, adding that the recording had subsequently circulated on social media.

In the video, the businessman reportedly spoke about personal challenges and made statements concerning the distribution of his assets to his wife and children.

He also reportedly expressed appreciation to his wife, Esther, for her support and loyalty during difficult periods of his life and business career.

The businessman was said to have indicated in the recording that his decisions concerning his properties were made voluntarily, while acknowledging the support he had received from his family over the years.

However, the police spokesperson said preliminary examination of the body revealed no visible signs of violence or foul play, although investigators are working to establish the actual circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has consequently ordered a comprehensive investigation into the death.

The command urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified accounts or drawing conclusions while investigations remain ongoing.

It also appealed to individuals experiencing emotional distress, marital difficulties or other personal challenges to seek professional assistance and support rather than suffer in silence.

The police said further information would be made available as the investigation progresses.
